- Ages 3-18, very beginning through Pre-Professional levels.
If I want to speak to a teacher, should I catch them after their class?
- Our teacher’s schedules do not allow for a break between classes. You are very important to us so please leave a message for the teacher at the front desk or you can call or email at any time to schedule an appropriate time to meet if you want to speak in person.
Do I have to participate in the Spring Performance?
- Everyone is encouraged to participate in the annual Spring Performance in June. It is highly recommended as a part of the students dance training experience but is not mandatory.
Do I need to take ballet classes?
- Simply put, YES! Ballet is the basis on which primarily all dance styles build upon. Additionally, ballet class taken in conjunction with other forms of dance will assist the student in accomplishing dance goals quicker and develop strong technique. Ballet training is necessary to successfully accomplish more advanced level movement techniques including multiple turns, and jump sequences. Ballet has also proven to enhance all athletic abilities. However, we do offer Tap, Hip Hop and Stretching classes that do not require enrolling in a ballet class.
What if my child is not interested in ballet?
- Hip hop, Tap and stretching class are dance skills that can still be learned and accomplished with no ballet training. As a child progresses in dance they could develop an interest and find additional value in experimenting with a ballet class. Students are welcome to observe or try a ballet class any time.
Will my child advance a class level each year?
- Inspire is highly committed to the ongoing progression for every one of our students! Our syllabus is very progressive and each year students will certainly develop and build upon skills learned in order to move ahead on to a new level full of brand new skills for them to master. Depending on experience, ability and mastery of skills within the level students may take at least 1-3 years of one level before moving up. From time to time and in the older age divisions, the class name may not change but the group of students in the class will be advancing within the category.
Should my child take multiple dance classes per week?
- Students ages 3-5 should not feel a need to take multiple dance classes per week. After the age of 6 and depending on their love for the art form and their reason for taking class, a student may decide to enroll in more classes. Dance is like any sport or art form; the more you train the better and faster you achieve your desired goals. Students of all ages can still reap rewards if only taking 1 class per week.
What Is the term Pre-Professional?
- Pre-professional is used to describe dancers who are training specifically for a professional dance career. Pre-professional training programs are designed for dancers who show promise for professional careers. Program admittance is often by eligibility and placement. These dancers are trained separately from those who train recreationally so that the classes can keep an accelerated or advanced pace. Pre-pro training is also sometimes called vocational training.
Do you have a dance company or a performance team?
- Inspire offers a growing performing dance company, Inspire Youth Company. This company is exceptional for students and offers additional student performance opportunities. For more info, please see our Youth Company page.
Do you offer private lessons?
- Yes, please call or email the studio for more information.
If we miss a class, is it possible to make up that class at another time?
- Yes, just call or email the Studio and we will be happy to coordinate with your instructor an appropriate class to take for a make up. Typically the student can take any class at a lower level for a make-up. Make up classes must take place within the same month as the missed class.
What happens when a teacher cancels her class?
- On a rare occasion when a teacher is ill, or cannot fulfill her/his teaching obligation for a class, she/he will offer a make up class within the month of the cancelled class.
What if my student has an injury?
- A student must report right away to the teacher if they are injured, even a minor one from either outside the studio or in a class. An injury procedure will be followed and parents will be notified accordingly for an injury that could potentially happen in class. A doctors note is required to return to class even if an injury occurred outside of class.
Why do you charge full rate during a month when one or two classes are missed due to holidays, etc?
- We base our tuition structure on a school year season with an annual base charge. We then conveniently divide that into equal term or monthly installment payments. Billing on a monthly basis offers a discount for you when compared to the cost for each class billed individually. Some months of the year, there are 5 class weeks, while in others, there are only 3 class weeks. Likewise, when a month has 5 classes we do not bill our families for the "extra" class.
